Can smoking marijuana make hormonal acne worse?

Simply put – yes.

While ingesting THC will likely not cause a hormonal imbalance, I recommend those with hormonal acne to limit their consumption if possible.

Ingesting marijuana affects chemicals in the brain, which ultimately impacts our hormones.

The endocrine system is responsible for producing hormones, and when it is under the influence of marijuana, there are obvious fluctuations in the overall hormonal balance.

While smoking the odd joint here and there will likely not result in a massive breakout, if you do already experience hormonal acne – there is a greater chance of breaking out after smoking marijuana due to a slight testosterone increase (when this happens, this can cause the oil glands to produce more sebum oil, inevitably encouraging more hormonal acne)

If you are someone who uses marijuana for medical purposes, I would recommend CBD oil vs mainly THC as the substances act very different on the biochemical level.
