I have my health.
I have passion.
I have a loving family and friends.
I have a great partner and marriage.
I have created a business that I love.
I have a lot of great things going for me right now in my life.
I sometimes feel bad that other people don’t have these things.
The thing is, I didn’t always have all of these things (sometimes people usually forget to take into account what you went through to get there), and even when it comes to the things I do have right now, nothing in life is forever.
I’m intentionally living in the now, leaning into love, making more beautiful memories, and doing more things every day that feel meaningful and make me feel good because it makes my experience more fulfilling and less empty – although sometimes I feel guilty because there are so many terrible things happening, that being happy or positive seems wrong.
If you ever feel this, I think it’s normal (especially if you have a global perspective). I find helping others and increasing my altruistic behavior helps me minimize my guilt. I know happiness isn’t a limited resource, and it is up to us to achieve it for ourselves. I know I am fortunate enough to be able to have this human experience right now, and not living it to the fullest is a disservice to the world. I’m choosing to actively make the best of my life every day because I know I (and all of us) deserve it.
You?
