I know many people can feel discouraged when they have cleaned up their diet – and see little to no progress.
While progress takes time, and there are many factors that can affect your progress other than calories in vs. calories out (hormone imbalances, stress, toxic load, gut health etc) – overconsumption is still a major factor for many people.
I load my meals with tons of healthy fats, which are critical when it comes to hormonal balance – but they are also super calorie dense.
I don’t believe in counting calories or tracking macros everyday (as this can create a negative relationship with food and create added stress), but I think it is very important to learn and therefore be more aware of what appropriate portion sizes look like.
The healthy fats alone in this meal pictured (1 tbsp chia seeds, 2 tbsp nut butter, 3 tbsp hemp hearts) add up to over 400 calories.
It is important to know that cutting your calories drastically also isn’t the answer – as this usually results in imbalanced hormones, muscle loss and a whole lot of stress (which puts you in a horrible environment for fat-loss).
Among many other things – when looking for sustainable weight-loss, it is important to be more aware of what you are putting into your body and find a healthy balance of the energy you put into your body with the energy you use.
