I think most of you already know I am a huge advocate for fasting.

I’m sure you’ve all heard that “your body can detox itself, there is no need to do a cleanse”.

It’s important to remember that people fast for different reasons (whether it be mental, emotional or physical).

Of course, there are so many types of fasts that one can benefit from – whether it be liquid fasting, juice fasting, water fasting, fat fasting or intermittent fasting.

A liquid fast can be a way to kickstart a weight loss plan, reduce cravings, improve your skin tone or could be a way to heal an illness.

Different lengths also have different considerations. Sometimes even a simple day of drinking only solely liquids can be an effective way to facilitate the process of detoxification by increasing the elimination of waste buildup and toxins present in the lymph and blood.

A liquid fast can basically work to enhance organ and gland function, which can allow your body to shift it’s focus from digestion and work on processing stored fats for elimination more efficiently.

Heavy metals, pesticides, food additives, plastics and other environmental chemicals are all fat soluble toxins – meaning they are stored in fat and must become water-soluble for the body to eliminate them completely.

When it comes to healing the body, instead of treating only the symptoms – I personally believe it best to treat the cause.

The cause almost always being toxicity and nutrient deficiency.

Unfortunately most prescribed medications only treat the symptom of your illness; and they don’t help strengthen your immune system, heart, joints, gut, liver etc.

The idea behind liquid fasting is not to starve yourself, but to promote a healthy gut and nourish your body in a cleansing way.

A short day of liquid fasting is a great fast for beginners, as you normally do not experience “detox” symptoms and it is actually common to have more energy throughout the day because you don’t need to spend energy on digesting solid food.

By reducing the amount of stress on your gut and flooding it with vital phytonutrients, this allows an environment for your body to heal, recharge, and your cells to work to re-establish optimal internal messaging.
