People are always so quick to blame genetics for their health issues. While genetics will always play a role, what about epigenetics? This refers to your gene expression being determined on the environment you put them in.
As soon as food touches our mouth, communication happens within our body, delivering messages like “release this hormone!” or “trigger immune cells”.
Unfortunately, when you consume highly processed food, a type of mimicry takes place. These artificial foods try to fit into the receptor sites where natural foods should be going, which starts to activate genetic expression for problems (not to mention damage to our guts, where over 70% of our immune system is located).
There is not one specific diet that works for everyone, but I will always recommend eating more whole food based options.
