From reducing inflammation within the body to enhancing overall immune function – Maintaining a healthy pH balance is critical when it comes to achieving optimal health!

Simply put – Your cells need a slightly alkaline environment (ideally around 7.4) to properly circulate oxygen and remove cellular waste.

How can you become more balanced? You can rebalance your pH by enhancing your nutrition and lifestyle choices!

What is pH? pH is the measurement of two basic chemical compounds (acid and alkalis) in your body’s fluids (blood, saliva, and urine).

How can you test your pH? The easiest way to test your pH levels is getting urine pH testing strips at your local health store!

What is a “healthy” pH level? The pH scale ranges from 1 to 14. A measurement of 7 is neutral. Anything lower than 7 is considered acidic, and anything above 7 is considered alkaline.

What causes an acidic environment? Typically, a diet rich in acid forming foods – like meats, refined carbohydrates/sugars and dairy will cause a more acidic environment.

How can you become more balanced? You can rebalance your pH by enhancing your nutrition and lifestyle choices!

What are some alkaline-forming foods? Think fruits and vegetables! Kale, cucumber, celery, avocado, spinach, and peppers are my favourite!

Take home message: Eating more alkaline-forming foods and establishing a better acid-alkaline balance in your body can have a great impact on your overall health!
