Losing body fat doesn’t always have to be about caloric restriction.
I’m sure a lot of you have heard, that to lose weight you MUST be in a caloric deficit. While a calorie restricted approach will work in the short term, most people find themselves gaining the weight back or more in the long term.
Instead of changing HOW MUCH you eat, try changing WHAT you eat.
Instead of constantly tracking calories or macros – try shifting the focus to all of the specific foods you should include in your diet (mental freedom vs. restriction).
Why isn’t calorie counting always effective? Because all calories aren’t created equal, and different foods go through different metabolic pathways.
When we focus on certain foods and nutrients we should be consuming, we can conquer cravings and see optimal changes in our hormonal function and metabolism.
What we choose to eat has direct effects on our serotonin, dopamine, cortisol, insulin, ghrelin, and leptin levels (just to name a few).
What we choose to eat will either have us feeling full or still hungry.
What we choose to eat (along with proper combinations) will decide whether or not we store or burn calories.
By giving your body the proper nutrients it needs, you can be in a better place mentally and be able to lose fat sustainably.
